“Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others.”

— I Timothy 6:18-19

FAQ’s

What does Bethany Believe about Money?

We see money as a tool we use to accomplish our mission of ‘helping people follow Jesus.’

Where do my donations to Bethany go?

Donations to Bethany support the yearly ministry budget. These funds make ongoing church ministries and services possible. Bethany gives an average of 15% of our yearly offerings to support trusted mission partners locally and around the world.

What do the different designations mean on the giving dropdown menu?

Bethany General Giving: Most giving will be attributed to the Bethany General Giving fund, including mission donations. The church is committed to missions giving from its general fund and such giving has averaged 15% of total unrestricted giving. The actual amount of annual missions giving is subject to annual congregational review and approval.

The Love Offering: This is the Church's Benevolence Fund which meets the needs of local members and non-members. Needs are reviewed and approved by the Senior Pastor and the Head of the Deacons.

The Emmanuel Maria Foundation: The regional hub for a Romanian mission organization.

Where does Bethany get its money?

It’s the financial generosity of everyday people in our congregation. Our support comes from the tithes (giving 10% of one’s earnings) and other contributions from those who attend Bethany.

Other than online giving, checks and cash, what are the additional ways I can donate assets to Bethany?

  • Our church welcomes donations of stocks and mutual funds.  A stock or mutual fund contribution can offer a real tax benefit to the tax-savvy charitable giver.

  • Ask your company's Human Resources, Matching Gift, or Payroll department if the company has a matching gift program. Bethany Covenant Church is an approved tax-exempt organization by the I.R.S. under section 501(c)(3).Description text goes here

  • A charitable gift can be given to the church through your will or other estate plans. The gift can be used to honor the Lord from the financial increase He has given you during your lifetime (Proverbs 3:9-10) and to benefit Bethany Covenant Church.

This type of gift can also be helpful to appropriately avoid estate taxes. If you have already included the church in your will, please let us know so that we can say "thank you."

Don't forget that qualified retirement plans will be considered part of your estate at death, but if handled correctly they can also be deductible from the estate as charitable gifts.

  • Many companies have United Way Fund Drives in the fall.  This is a special time of year when companies raise awareness and corporate support for the United Way.  You can designate that your United Way Contribution be directed to Bethany Covenant Church.  Some companies will match your contribution with an equal contribution designated to assist those in our local communities.

  • Eligible individuals (people over the age of 70 ½) are allowed to make tax-free distributions from their IRA account for charitable purposes.  The distribution must go directly from the IRA Account to the church or charity to qualify for a tax-free rollover.  Because no tax is paid, a charitable tax deduction is not available for this type of contribution.

What is the Bethany Endowment Fund?
The Bethany Endowment Fund was created in 2001 to support the future ministry of Bethany Covenant Church. Through donations, bequests, memorial gifts and wills we hope to build the principle so the interest earned each year can be used for necessary capital projects. Growing this fund now will free up valuable financial resources for ministry in the future.
