Developing a Compassionate Heart like Jesus

Developing a Compassionate Heart Like Jesus

Psalm 145:8; Isaiah 49:13; Matthew 9:35-38 and Matthew 25:31-36

Pray “Jesus, help me have a heart like yours. Help me have eyes like yours. Help me care like you.”

Notice who is your neighbor at school, work, community or global village with open ears and eyes. Learn their names and needs. Ask Jesus to help you pick one to three people or groups to focus on.

Discern how to respond.

  • It might be with time. Time to listen, to visit, to care, to pray with the person or group.

  • With ways to be engaged. Will you go outside your comfort zone? Will you serve once or regularly? Will you join a ministry or missions team?

  • It might be with finances. How much to give? How often to give? Do I add giving to my will?

  • What can I learn? What will I read, listen to or watch to understand who has physical and spiritual needs? Local concerns, current events, global disasters.

Share what Christ is doing in your life and in the lives of others. Invite people to join you in your compassionate efforts. Use creative ways to share. Let us know how you are growing and introduce us to the people impacted by your love, prayers, and compassion.
