Exploring the Gifts of the Holy Spirit

During our class we will look at what are the gifts of the Holy Spirit with Biblical examples, as well as how to recognize them in ourselves and other Christians.

Facilitated by Tracy Wyman and Caitlin Wall

Forgotten God   by Francis Chan

When was the last time someone used the word “powerful” to describe you?  It doesn’t make sense that almighty God would have children characterized by fear and insecurity.  He put His Spirit in us so we could be known for our power. In Forgotten God, through solid scriptural support and compelling narrative, Francis Chan returns us to the Holy Spirit as the Bible describes Him, reminding us that we were not created and saved merely to survive our time on earth.  Let’s pursue the Spirit-filled life of effectiveness God desires and we desire.

Facilitated by Gail Donaldson and Marilyn Valentine

Matthew

A full-year study on the gospel of Matthew, though people may opt to participate in the class in the fall and just get through half of Matthew.  We’ll be using the N.T. Wright for Everyone study guide, which has 25 studies, so we’ll plan to do the first thirteen in the fall.

Facilitated by Beth Hubbard and Diane Hallenbeck

Running on Empty by Jill Briscoe.

This is a book for anyone who has ever felt burned out, depressed, frustrated, hurting, guilty, grieving or just plain tired.  We will weekly explore the lives of a different Bible character.  We will see that even the Biblical “greats” had their low points, how God met them and how He wants to meet us in our deepest place of need.   Elijah (Burnout), Leah (Rejection) David (Sin), Hannah (Broken Dreams), Jonah (Disobedience), The Prodigal Sons (Rebellion), Martha (Busyness), Moses (People Problems), Naomi (Loss), Habakkuk (Suffering).

Facilitated by Gina Erickson and Rita Soderberg

Fervent by Pricilla Shirer

Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don’t-give-up action guide to practical, purposeful praying. You have an enemy….and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. This book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts.

Facilitated by Suzie Rankins and Mary Shupe

Matthew 6:6  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
