Vocal Ensembles

We have singing groups for all ages. Here are
some of them...
Children's
Choir - Grades K-2
Rehearsal times - Wednesdays - 6:15 - 6:45pm
Location - Rooms 3/5 (Lambs)
Carolers sing a mixture of
traditional Sunday school songs, hymns, and popular sacred music. We learn
basic musical skills as well as strengthen and broaden our understanding
of the Lord. We love to sing and we love the Lord!
We sing during the beginning
of the worship service approximately every 4-6 weeks (about 6 times a
year). We also sing at special music programs (such as Christmas). All are
welcome to come and sing. If you're not sure, come anyway. You won't be
disappointed!
Children’s
choir - Grades 3-6
Rehearsal time - Wednesdays - 6:15 - 7:00
Location - Sanctuary
Choristers sing a variety of
music from all over the world. We focus on experiencing the joy of
praising God through singing. We also learn basic musical skills and
concepts while learning our music. We sing in worship services about 6
times a year.
Also, we are periodically
asked to "back up" soloists, or join with other ensembles for
special pieces (hey, when you're good, you're good!). We're open to ALL
regardless of musical training or reading ability. WE LOVE NEW MEMBERS!
Come on out!!
Youth choir
- Grades 7-12
Rehearsal time - Thursdays - 6:00 - 7:30pm
Location - Commons/Sanctuary
Greatfull Living is a music
group comprised of junior and senior highers. About every 6 weeks we will
both perform and lead the congregation in singing. Contemporary and gospel
style music will be the focus. We will meet most Sundays from 5-6 pm at
Bethany. Practices will take place in the sanctuary or common's room. (If
there is no Senior High on a night we rehearse then we will Supersize
it--that is practice from 5-7 and order pizza!)
Leaders Courtney and Hall
Crowder are the parents of four children who have backgrounds in children
and youth ministry. We have a desire to work with youth in order that they
will know Jesus Christ in a personal relationship. We believe music is an
excellent way to deepen ones faith.
Our singing is supported by a
band made up of members of the choir. We typically have enough players to
form more than one band, so they rotate for each song. Want to know more?

Male vocal
ensemble,
(High-school age and up)
Rehearsal time - Wednesdays - 6:30 - 7:00
Location - Commons
Bethany's Men's Chorus is a
great group of guys who love to sing (and sound great singing together)!
Typically singing 2 - 4 times each "semester", the group
requires a significantly smaller time commitment than the Chancel Choir,
though many of the men are also in Chancel Choir. The ability to read
music is not a requirement! If you love to sing but have an extremely
tight schedule, Men's Chorus is for you. Come give it a try!
Traditional
mixed choir
(High-school age and up)
Rehearsal time - Wednesdays - 7:00 - 8:30
Location - Commons
Chancel choir is a fun group
of people with a serious passion for worship. We do a wide variety of
music from around the world and spanning many centuries. While we do work
extremely hard at producing the highest quality music we can, we
understand our role not to be of performers, but worship leaders. We
support the congregation in singing during worship, and sing anthems to
enrich the congregation's worship experience.
We sing at one service almost
every week (occasionally two), and at most special services like Christmas
Eve and Maundy Thursday. You don't need any formal training or experience
to be in the choir, just a desire to worship God with music, and a
commitment to work at it regularly.
Leaders of
congregational song -
(High school age and up)
Rehearsal time - TBA
Location -TBA
The Praise Teams are actually
a collection of many different groups devoted to leadership in worship of
congregational singing. Each group "specializes" in a particular
style and format. Their participation in worship is based on what music
will best support each particular service theme, scriptures, sermon, etc.
While the level of difficulty may vary slightly from service to service, a
strong intermediate level of musicianship is always required, and a very
high level of accomplishment may sometimes be necessary. However, the real
key to successful participation in these ensembles is a having heart for
worship, and for encouraging others to enter into worship.
