Pray Always, Pray All Ways

An Adventure in Prayer for Bethany Covenant Church

Our theme for the year 2008.

The Disciples witnessed Jesus’ prayer life and made of him one very simple request, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples” (Luke 11:1).

Jesus wants his disciples to pray. He modeled it, gave us words, asked to join him in prayer. Jesus prayed! Perhaps that stands as the most compelling reason to pray. I pray because Jesus prayed.

This year at Bethany Covenant we are providing an intentional focus on prayer. It is our intention that every member and friend be challenged to grow in their prayer life. We will be providing resources for you; prayer practices that have been utilized by the Christian Church throughout the ages and by many different cultures.

Sunday school classes, small groups, children, youth and adult ministries will all be giving attention to this theme this year as well as several preaching series. It is our expectation that throughout this year we may find a new freedom in our ability to speak with God; a strengthened faith in knowing God listens; an increased hunger for God’s response; and a contented and ready spirit from which to listen for God.
