| Covenant mission work in Mexico has led
to the establishment of 57 Covenant congregations in three districts
with 3,640 members. In addition to the pastors of these congregations,
there are currently an additional 19 Covenant missionaries who assist
in outreach like church planting, leadership development, and
evangelism. Every two years, the Mexico missionaries organize a
retreat for the Mexican pastors and spouses. This retreat provides a
time of rest and renewal for pastors who otherwise have little
opportunity for such activities.
For many Mexican pastors, “pastoring” is a second job. An important
component of the retreat is health screening, again something which is
not readily available to them.

A team from Bethany Covenant Church was to be traveling to Mexico from
April 28 through May 4, 2009 to assist in this retreat.
The
influenza epidemic has intervened, and the Mexican government took the
precaution of closing the conference center and all other public
gatherings in the State of Mexico during the health emergency.
We are trying to reschedule the trip later this year.
In the meantime, please pray for the health of the Mexican pastors,
their families, and the people of Mexico.
